Concord Funeral Home in its 75th year
As Funeral Director Glenn Burlamachi sat in one of the rooms at Concord Funeral Home, he couldn't help but look around and realize how fortunate he is to be working for a family-owned, operated and occupied business.
"It's been a wonderful journey," Burlamachi said, who has been running the funeral home since 2004.
The MacRae-Tunnicliffe Concord Funeral Home is celebrating its 75th year in funeral business this year and Ted Tunnicliffe, predecessor of the funeral home, said Concord Funeral Home is not just serving families once.
"They remember us and come back," Tunnicliffe said. "They are strangers in the beginning and three days later they are our friends."
Local clergy and funeral director attend grief seminar
Held in a bright and colorful auditorium on the campus of Mt. Ida College, the seminar “The Good Death, Good Grief and Good Funeral: Finding Our Place in the Continuum of Care,” began with a warm welcome from NFDA President Patrick Lynch. He introduced his brother, Tom Lynch, who was followed esteemed “professor of preaching,” Dr. Thomas Long.
Tom Lynch offered his own brand of humor and insight along with a poignant slide presentation with everything from family photos to clips from the HBO production “Six Feet Under” and the PBS documentary “The Undertaking.”
Dr. Thomas Lynch is a vibrant and captivating speaker spoke about celebrating the sacred value of a person and the ritual that emphasizes the embodied nature of the deceased. Both speakers met with a resounding ovation and after a short break the audience was given an opportunity to ask questions.

MacRae-Tunnicliffe Concord Funeral Home in Concord was recently presented with an award for its 75th year in the funeral business. The award, given by the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association, was presented at its annual Appreciation Night Banquet at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association represents over 500 funeral homes in the state and is the largest organization of funeral service practitioners in the Commonwealth. MFDA is a federated state affiliate of the National Funeral Directors Association based in Wisconsin.
Established in response to the community’s need, MacRae-Tunnicliffe Concord Funeral Home has been serving families of all faith traditions since 1936. The funeral home is proud to be family owned, operated and occupied. Glenn D. Therapist and educator Allene Kussin to offer presentation
“When The Heart Aches” at Concord Funeral HomeOn Tuesday, February 15 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., Concord Funeral Home on Belknap & Thoreau Streets is hosting a special evening event for those coping with the loss of a loved one.
Returning to Concord Funeral Home to give this presentation called “When The Heart Aches” is Allene Riley Kussin, MA, LPC. Allene spoke in the Autumn of 2009 about grieving through the holidays. She brings words of hope and healing again to aid attendees in their experience of the ‘new normal’ condition of loss.
