CONTINUING A TRADITION OF SERVICE & TRUST
Established 1936 Responding to the need of local communities, Rothwell N. MacRae opened the MacRae Funeral Home in a storefront on Walden Street in historic Concord, in an area commonly known as “Tuttles-Livery,” in 1936. The following year MacRae relocated the firm to its present-day location at the corner of Belknap & Thoreau Streets.
The original MacRae Funeral Home consisted of two living apartments connected in the middle by a one-story link. The original section was thought to be the “Gate House” for the Colonel Belknap Estate. For twenty years until his retirement, MacRae proudly served the communities of Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Sudbury, and the Actons from this humble facility.
In 1958, Edmund H. Tunnicliffe III purchased the firm. Changing the name to the MacRae-Tunnicliffe Funeral Home, he would spend the next seven years expanding and improving the facility to accommodate an ever-growing clientele. To this day, thanks to his hard work and vision, our facility offers a warm and comforting environment to the families we serve.

The Tunnicliffe family operated the home for forty-six years. Edmund IV and his wife Sue joined his father in the day-to-day operation of the business and ultimately, upon the retirement of Edmund III, continued the tradition of excellence started by Rothwell MacRae.
In July 2004, the Tunnicliffe family sold the business to Glenn and Beth Burlamachi. Glenn Burlamachi is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He holds an Associates Degree in Funeral Services from FINE Mortuary College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting & Business Management from Green Mountain College. In addition to running the Funeral Home, Glenn teaches Business & Accounting courses as an adjunct instructor at FINE. He is a member of the Concord Rotary, Concord Chamber of Commerce, Concord Economic Committee, Concord Business Partnership, and Village Overlay. He also holds a seat on the Board of Incorporators at New England Deaconness Association.
Glenn and Beth, together with their children Kyle and Caroline, are thankful for the opportunity to serve the families of Concord, Carlisle, Lincoln, Sudbury, and Acton. Operating as MacRae-Tunnicliffe’s Concord Funeral Home, the Burlamachi family pledges to always provide the best quality service before, during, and after your time of need.
